Clean Skin Hacks

Clear skin hacks:

Before I start I just want to make clear that I am a qualified beautician and have lots of knowledge on the skins anatomy and physiology. However, with some tips I will include foods and supplements I personally find help my skin. Please take into account that I am not a trained nutritionist or doctor so make sure you always check with these professionals first before trying out any of my suggestions.

Skincare for me is something I am so passionate about growing up. I always had such bad breakouts and irritations mainly caused by an unhealthy diet, hormones ,  wrong product usage and so on. This all changed for me once I began beauty collage. Learning about the skin and carrying out facials was something that I massively enjoyed and quickly became passionate about. On my first lesson I remember the teacher saying something that literally changed my whole skin care life.

“if you look after your skin when your young, it will look after you when your old”

The beauty industry has so many products, facials and treatments including botox and fillers that can make us feel not as good enough without or that our skin has to be a certain way for us to feel good. This post is not about quick fixes it’s about taking care of yourself and your skin in a maintainble way without doing anything that is to invasive or dramatic. So first things first

Getting to know your skin:

Before you start with any improvements you need to know where you stand now in order to take the best personalised steps for yourself. Find out what skin type you are. You can do this by searching different types and giving a self-diagnosis or what would probably be best is visit a skin care professional *cough cough holly sheens beauty* to get a detailed accurate analysis. What will work for one person’s skin may be damaging on another so never compare just Know YOUR skin!

Skin care routine:

Your skin has millions of cells that shed and re-grow continuously though-out your life and need boosting consistently because of this I recommend

1. Keep your routine simple and manageable for your life

2. Be consistent and make your skincare a habit you do daily like brushing your teeth. You could have the best facial in the world and have instant results, however if you do no work on the skin consistently results will never maintain.

3. Daily cleanse, tone and moisturise (this can take just a few mins) I would highly recommend tropic skincare, if ordering through them please be sure to select me “Holly Sheen Rainham” at checkout.

4. Treat yourself weekly 1-3 times per week give yourself a more intense facial including a nice exfoliator and nourishing skin mask with possibly the added serum. Why not add some relaxing music for added comfort?

Try before you buy:

So many amazing products are available to purchase and it can be overwhelming even when you do know what skin type you now are. Lots of skin care brands do offer samples so don’t be afraid to ask. It can be expensive so you want to make sure you are buying something that your skin thrives on and loves.  Skin care brands I personally love are Kiehls cosmetics, Sunday riley and Dermalogica.

Look after your insides:

Everything that is coming out of your skin is being produced inside so the food we eat, nutrience we hold, drinks we consume all have a massive effect on us and can make a big difference. It’s good to be aware of how much processed food you are consuming, fizzy drinks and if you are getting the correct amount of vitamins to keep you healthy. Another factor is sleep, your skin repairs its-self while you are asleep so have you considered if you are getting the correct amount for you. The human body is like a machine and works to keep everything going. Each different  part of the bodies functions that make up “you” have a knock on effect to each other so if one area of your body is having a negative effect on you e.g. a massive break out it could be a cause from something else’s for example , if you notice you are stressed , your body will realise chemicals throughout your body which can change the way your skin is working and repairing. So you may notice some skin issues. If you’re not fueling your body with nutritional food and instead adding many toxins like alcohol in massive amounts, sugar ect. your skin will react to that which can show in breakouts ect. including having allergies to food and products. (by no means am I saying cut all sugar and alcohol out just look at the volume you are consuming if and when you do notice any skin problems) look into your daily habits and see if there is anything you think could be causing you any issues that you could easily change over time .

Top tips/habits that work for me:

·      Drink plenty of water daily

·      Load your plate up with lots of veggies the wider the variety of colour means you are getting a wider variety of nutrience. The more nutrience the more your body can thrive

·      Taking supplements that a nutritionist or doctor recommends you. I personally LOVE spirulina , magnesium, apple cider vinegar, turmeric captiuals , vitiman d and b12

·      Be balanced and add one thing, habit or routine at a time don’t overload and stress yourself out these are all things I have done over the course of 7 years , Rome was not built in a day and neither is your skin no rush is needed , what works for me may be different for you and that’s ok! Trial and error is good. Keep what works, chuck what don’t, be patient and let time do its thing

·      Meditate/relaxation allow your body to recover and rejuvenate so that it can heal its- self. Our bodies are so cleaver and works to keep you going every second of the day make sure you treat it so it can work to its best.

·      Name your spots and wrinkles – take the pressure of yourself remember we are more than what we look like anyway have fun with your flaws and accept everyone of them. Be happy being perfectly imperfect and content with just doing the best with what you have got. I personally feel like fine lines, wrinkles and scaring that life gives us is just a way to remind ourselves the time we have spent in life and what a gift it is oh and that gravity is working lol  remember it’s the bodies natural process don’t be hard on yourself! It is what it is.

Lots of love
